RULE OF THIRDS

Rule of Thirds

The Rule of Thirds is probably the most well-known composition rule in photography.  Rule of Thirds is one of the first things that I have learned in Media studies.

Using the Rule of Thirds means that the subject isn’t centered in the image. By placing the subject off center, you create interesting and more balanced shots.

Imagining that you have a grid of 3×3 over your photo, both horizontally and vertically, so that you have 9 parts. On this rule of thirds grid you have four important parts of the image, where the grid lines intersect. You can add your subject on the four intersections or along the lines. Above are pictures that I tried taking by applying this rule.
